Nathan Hirayama is considered to be one of Canada’s top rugby players, he leads the Canadian National Sevens team in points and finished in the top 3 in scoring in the 2012/2013 season on the HSBC Sevens World Series. Nathan was first selected for the Canadian National Sevens team in November of 2006 at 18 years old and was at the time the youngest player to ever do so. Nathan has emerged as one of the leaders on the Canadian National Sevens team and was first named captain of the squad in 2010 at the age of 22.
One major attribute Nathan has developed is his ability to kick and convert points as he currently has one of the best kicking percentages on the HSBC Sevens World Series.
Nathan is also a member of the Canadian National Fifteens team and was the youngest player to ever play for Canada when we stepped on the field against the New Zealand Maori in 2007. Since then he has attended two Rugby World Cups (France 2007 and New Zealand 2011), the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi India and was a Gold medalist at the 2011 Pan American games in Guadalajara Mexico.
With the induction of Rugby Sevens to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, it is a sport we will likely be hearing more about in the future. Nathan relies on BioSteel products to help him maximize his training in order to reach the next level before the games.
